The Building on What Works Coalition

Earlier this month - in between snow storms - we joined with leaders in early education and from the business community as well as leading superintendents and mayors to launch the Building on What Works Coalition. The Coalition is committed to positioning cities and towns to accelerate progress in ensuring all children in Massachusetts have the learning opportunities critical for success.

The Coalition is advocating for state leaders to establish a $75 million fund in the  FY16 budget that would be dedicated to funding communities that submit plans to do one or more of the following:

  • Expand access to high-quality early learning opportunities from birth to age five;
  • Expand learning time in K-12 through significantly longer school days and/or year; and
  • Design innovative learning systems to creatively deploy educator talent, technology, and public resources.
